May the Fourth in the Alley – Celebrates All Things Galactic
Part street party, part fandom gathering, May the Fourth in the Alley (Hattiesburg Pocket Museum Alley) continues a tradition that brings the community together for a night of creativity, costumes, and just plain fun.  May the Fourth will take place Monday, May 4^th from 6:00 –8:00 p.m.
This free, family-friendly evening event is equal parts costume contest, community hangout, and galactic chaos!  Star Wars music will be provided by the USM Sax Chamber Orchestra, and include the famous cantina sounds that once drifted through Mos Eisley.
Food and drink will be fully themed for the evening, with BBQ brisket sandwiches reimagined as BBQ Bantha Sandwiches and classic hot dogs transformed into Hoth Dogs, alongside chips and sodas.  The cantina-style bar will return with a full lineup of specialty drinks, each with both adult and kid-friendly versions. Expect favorites like Yoda Soda, Padawan Punch, and Aunt Beru’s Blue Milk, along with other cantina-inspired creations all available for purchase.  Adult beverages will be available for those with a valid ID.
Guests are encouraged to arrive in full costume for the Costume Contest, featuring awards for:
• Best Adult Costume
• Best Kid (18 and under)
• Best Pet Costume
 
The evening will include a mix of returning favorites and brand-new additions:
• NEW: “Ink in the Alley” Tattoo Door — Star Wars-themed temporary tattoos for just $1
• Star Wars Bingo with galactic prizes
• Kids games and activities for young Padawans
• Lightsaber meet-up — bring yours and join the glow
• A lively social scene with folks from around the galaxy (and at least three nearby zip codes)
 
Adding his official endorsement, Milo, the Pocket Museum’s resident curator, shared:
“For one night only, I will be regular-sized and a fully trained Jedi.  I expect to be taken very seriously.  
 
Special Star Wars-themed tees will be available for purchase throughout the evening. Standard Earth plastic is accepted - Republic credits, Imperial credits, and “I’ll get you back later” are not!
May the 4^th in the Alley is free and open to all ages. Costumes are highly encouraged. Lightsabers are strongly encouraged. A small amount of well-behaved galactic mayhem is expected.
