SUMMARY:Miss Mississippi Headlines Speak Up Hattiesburg Event
DESCRIPTION:Miss Mississippi Hannah Roberts will lend her celebrity to Speak Up Hattiesburg\, a community-built initiative to fund and preserve debate and theatre traditions at Hattiesburg High School. \n\n\n\nThe benefit event\, hosted by Keg and Barrel Owner John Neal and HHS Debate Alum and local attorney Michael Shemper is scheduled for 5 pm on Tuesday\, March 29\, at Keg and Barrel. The family-friendly barbeque plate event will feature a live band and will generate funds to keep the nationally-ranked Tiger Debaters on the road this semester and help with costs for participation in the national championships. "I would not be a good neighbor of Hattiesburg High School if I did nothing to help with this community effort. K&B is glad to play a role in saving the arts at our local school."\n\n\n\n"Hannah is a violin player and we know she has a passion for the arts\," says K&B Manager Diana Pennignton. Event volunteer Stacey Metz adds\, "She will be a great addition to our event."\n\n\n\nHHS Actor/Alum Jim Thompson and Merchants Food Service have graciously donated the food and supplies for the March 29 Speak Up Hattiesburg event at the Keg & Barrel.\n\n\n\nMore on the capital campaign to endow the HHS Debate and Theatre program through the Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation can be found online at SpeakUpHattiesburg.com.
