DESCRIPTION:Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is celebrated as a man of peace and justice. Similarly\, the Mu Gamma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha celebrates Brother Douglass T. Baker\, who worked tirelessly to bridge people of difference in the Pine Belt Area\, ultimately establishing the Martin Luther King Ecumenical Prayer Breakfast in Hattiesburg. The two men mirrored each other in purpose\, passion and pride for equality for all races\, not just for those who shared the same color. Both men were heroes and truly believed in the brotherhood of ALL mankind.\n\n\n\nOn January 19th\, please join the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity\, Inc. and other area businesses\, churches\, and members of the community in celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. The event will begin promptly at 7:30 am in Thad Cochran Center Ballrooms on the campus of The University of Southern Mississippi. Breakfast will be served starting at 7:00am. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Dolphus Weary\, author of the book I Aint Comin Back.\n\n\n\nThe purpose of this prayer breakfast is to commemorate Dr. King's Dream and those heroes\, past and present who tirelessly work towards pursuit of that dream through reflection and fellowship. Through the support of local businesses\, individuals\, non-profits\, and churches the Prayer Breakfast will be free and open to the public.
